Lucia Rios, M.Sc., R.P. (Qualifying)

Often, what leads us to seek therapy are symptoms that cause the body to scream, the mind to spiral, or relationships that matter deeply to hang by a thread. If you have arrived at one of these thresholds and realized it is time for a change, I stand by your side in this brave and important step. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, listen to what your mind and body are trying to communicate, and explore the stories, experiences, and emotions that may be contributing to your suffering. My goal is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental, and a collaborative environment where you can reconnect with yourself and move toward greater well-being and authenticity.

Working with Individual Adults: I work with individuals from diverse social, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds who are navigating a wide range of concerns. These include anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, life transitions, emotional regulation challenges, trauma-related concerns, and crisis interventions. I have particular experience supporting immigrants, refugees, and members of LGBTQIA2S+ communities, while remaining committed to creating a therapeutic space that is affirming, culturally responsive, and attentive to the impact of systemic and social inequities on mental health.

My clinical interests include intergenerational trauma, racial trauma, attachment patterns, immigration-related stress, identity development, and the integration of spiritually significant experiences. I support clients who are seeking to understand how past experiences continue to shape their relationships, emotional lives, and sense of self. I also have a special interest in psychedelic integration and in supporting individuals who have experienced altered or non-ordinary states of consciousness. I work with individuals from all races, sexual orientations, and gender.  My work is grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming frameworks that recognize the importance of culture, community, spirituality, and lived experience in the healing process.

Working with Couples:  I work collaboratively with couples to strengthen emotional and physical closeness, navigate disagreements around parenting, finances, family dynamics, and cultural differences, and rebuild connection following experiences that have strained the relationship, such as betrayals, breaches of trust, or periods of emotional distance. Influenced by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives, I help couples explore how early attachment experiences and longstanding relational patterns may continue to shape their expectations, emotional reactions, and ways of relating in the present, and move towards awareness, creating space for meaningful dialogue and repair.

I have a Master’s degree in Psychology and am currently a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Ottawa, where my studies focus on plant medicines, Indigenous cosmologies, and the intersections between healing, culture, and consciousness. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I continue to deepen my clinical competencies through ongoing supervision, professional development, and evidence-informed practice. I provide psychological services under the supervision of Dr. Dino Zuccarini, C.Psych.

I am a registered member of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario
